I am Senior Lecturer - Global Development Politics at the Department of Politics, University of York. Prior to joining York, I was ESRC Research Fellow at the Department of International Development and James Martin Fellow at the Oxford Martin School and International Migration Institute (IMI) Network. I was also a Junior Research Fellow at Wolfson College and Research Associate at the Department of International Development, University of Oxford.

My work illustrates the profound ways in which agents in the Global South disrupt prevailing understandings of development, thereby exploring the global possibilities of development and reframing the discipline. I teach on undergraduate and taught-graduate courses in Politics at the University of York. Previously, I taught and tutored on the Politics of South Asia paper, MPhil Programme in Development Studies, MSc Contemporary India, and MSc in Migration Studies at the University of Oxford. (read more...)
I have published in highly-ranked peer-reviewed academic journals such as World Development, Journal of Peasant Studies, Oxford Development Studies, Contributions to Indian Sociology and Journal of Contemporary Asia. (read more...)
I hold a DPhil in Development Studies from the University of Oxford.
